Taken with Alex’s Polaroid camera on tour in 1979, the photographs capture live performances and unguarded moments between shows, offering an intimate glimpse of life on the road with the band. The edition is limited to just 50 numbered prints worldwide, each individually signed by Alex Van Halen.

Alex Van Halen formed Van Halen with his brother, Eddie, in 1972. Alongside David Lee Roth and Michael Anthony, they became one of the most successful rock bands in history, selling over 75 million records worldwide and earning induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
Born in Amsterdam and raised in Pasadena, California, Alex began as a classical pianist before switching to drums. His powerful, distinctive playing became the heartbeat of Van Halen, driving a succession of multi-platinum albums including Van Halen, Fair Warning and 1984, and influencing generations of drummers.
Taken during the band’s 1979 tour using Alex’s Polaroid camera, these photographs capture that spirit at a formative moment in Van Halen’s story. Drawn from his personal collection and previously unpublished, they preserve the performances, friendships and spontaneous moments of life on the road.
Eight previously unpublished photographs from Alex Van Halen’s personal collection are brought together in a single composition, retaining their original borders and distinctive Polaroid tones. Arranged in two rows, the artwork invites a closer look at the individual scenes while offering a collective portrait of Van Halen on tour in 1979.
Measuring 30 × 20 inches (76.2 × 50.8 cm), the print is reproduced using the archival giclée process on Hahnemühle Photo Rag fine art paper, preserving the colours, textures and details of the original photographs in lightfast inks.
Published in an edition of just 50 numbered copies, each print is individually signed by Alex Van Halen in the lower margin. The Van Halen logo is blind stamped into the paper beneath the photographs, providing an additional mark of authenticity. Every print is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the publishers.
Available framed or unframed, the print has been created as a companion to Alex’s book and as a standalone piece for collectors. The framed option is presented in a white hardwood frame with an acid-free mount and UV-protective acrylic glazing.
