New York’s Rizzoli Bookstore played host last week to a night steeped in rock ’n’ roll history, as the acclaimed actor, musician, and storyteller Kiefer Sutherland took the stage to celebrate the latest release from Genesis Publications, Buddy Holly: Words of Love.
In conversation with veteran music journalist and author Antony DeCurtis, Sutherland spoke of Holly’s music as a thread running through his life, shaping not just his listening but his own songwriting. As a talented singer-songwriter in his own right and a committed ambassador for the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation, Sutherland discussed the responsibility he feels in helping to carry Holly’s legacy to new generations.
Following on from the reader event at Rizzoli, Genesis Publications and The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation hosted a private VIP reception to celebrate the new book at the legendary Greenwich Village venue, Carroll Place. In partnership with Teenage Cancer America, this intimate celebration featured heartfelt performances by Kiefer Sutherland, Willie Nile, Donnie Kehr and Lenny Kaye. See above for a full gallery of images from this fantastic occasion, with photography by Nina Wurtzel.
We are delighted to announce that during his appearance in New York, Kiefer Sutherland personally signed 50 bookplates for Genesis subscribers.
These bookplates will now be included in Deluxe copies of Buddy Holly: Words of Love, already hand-signed by Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey.
That means just 50 Deluxe sets worldwide will now carry the autographs of three legendary names – a rare convergence of film, music, and rock ’n’ roll history. Once these copies are gone, no further signed bookplates will be available. Click here to secure your copy today.
