For decades, fans have searched for it. Now, one of the most coveted moments in David Bowie’s live history is stepping back into the spotlight.
Rare, long-lost footage of Bowie performing 'Heroes' at Earl’s Court in 1978 is set to feature in a new immersive exhibition in London, offering what producers have described as a true “holy grail.”
The extended performance has been reconstructed using newly discovered camera angles found in Bowie’s archives. Mark Grimmer, the show’s producer, said: “Fans haven’t seen it before. The quality of the material is amazing and he was absolutely at the height of his powers. We just had to get out of the way and let the performance speak for itself.”
Presented at Lightroom in King’s Cross, You’re Not Alone places audiences inside the performance with multi-angle projections across four walls and the floor, accompanied by spatial sound. Executive producer David Sabel explained: “You feel like you’re joining the crowd back in 1978. You don’t get a linear experience – you get a more three-dimensional one.”
The exhibition also features Bowie’s final performance as Ziggy Stardust at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1973, alongside interviews narrated by Bowie himself and rare material drawn from his extensive personal archives.
