The Who Release 'Jingles' EP From Their Upcoming Sell Out Reissue
The Who have released a digital 'Jingles' EP ahead of the super deluxe reissue of their landmark album,
The Who Sell Out. The tracks, which appear on the reissue, include three early takes of a jingle they did for Heinz Baked Beans, outtakes from an advert for John Mason Cars, as well as a previously unreleased mix of 'Premier Drums'.
'We were hoping to get free Jaguars. We got fifty free tins of baked beans.'
- Pete TownsendOriginally released in 1967,
The Who Sell Out was the band's third album and paid tribute to the hugely popular pirate radio stations, with songs linked by comical jingles and advertisements. Now, a super deluxe reissue of the album will include 112 tracks, many of which are previously unreleased, a book, 5 CDs, 2 vinyl singles and memorabilia.
The Who's iconic visual imagery, which carries through to their cover of
The Who Sell Out, would go on to form the most indelible image of Sixties London. In the Genesis Limited Edition,
Maximum Who, the studio time, the rehearsals, behind the scenes, and the live shows that celebrated The Who's explosion onto the British Mod scene are all captured.
