Pre-Publication Offer for The Doors Ends 13th May

As we celebrate the release of Night Divides the Day, this month also marks the anniversary of The Doors' legendary residency at the Whisky A Go Go – the iconic Sunset Strip venue where the band became the first official house band in 1966.

It was here that Ronnie Haran, the Whisky's booker, first discovered the band performing down the road at the London Fog. She was instantly captivated, and within weeks, The Doors were playing nightly sets at the Whisky and sometimes, being fired and rehired by owner Elmer Valentine in equal measure.

'With the combination of blues and jazz and what they did with 'Alabama Song', they were going to be the American Rolling Stones... They had the formula of great music and a good-looking lead singer.' – Ronnie Haran

During this time, they supported acts like Them, fronted by Van Morrison (a contributor to this edition), before being discovered by Elektra Records and catapulted into rock history.
