This past weekend, John Densmore and Robby Krieger came together to create a brand new version of the Doors classic 'Riders on the Storm' in collaboration with a collection of artists from across the globe.
As part of Playing for Change's annual Songs Around the World Project, the two rock music legends were joined by Lukas Nelson, Micah Nelson, Don Was, Rami Jaffee, Sierra Ferrell, and Aaron White. The video helps fund the Wichapi Olowan Music Studio, which is dedicated to uplifting and nurturing Indigenous artists through workshops, activities, music sessions, and production services.
'Seeing musicians from different cultures come together around this song means a lot. Playing for Change is doing important work to unite people across the globe.' – Robby Krieger
Other artists on the track include William Barton (didgeridoo), Boboulaye Sissokho (kora), Macarena Montesinos (cello), Guarani Andeva Group (percussion), Iron Cult Dancers (dancers), Izzana Jaa (vocals), Ezequiel Acosta (bandoneón), and Erik Prevost David (trumpet).
'Vocally, Lukas Nelson filled Jim Morrison's leather pants quite well! Ray would be proud of the way Rami Jaffee 'channelled' the piano solo.' – Ray Manzarek
