Featuring some of the most famous guitars ever played and illustrated with rare archival photography throughout, in Six-String Stories Eric Clapton guides the reader through nearly 300 instruments, discussing their provenance, revealing insights into his own playing and sharing memories from a spectacular life in music.
Six-String Stories was first published by Genesis in 2012 as a limited edition of 2,000 copies signed by Eric Clapton, followed by a bookstore edition available worldwide in 2021.
A special run of just 500 Publisher's Copies was subsequently created by Genesis. Presented in a specially designed slipcase, each set includes four exclusive photographic prints, five guitar picks and a bookplate signed by the publishers.
Fewer than 250 Publisher's Copies now remain.
Every piece in Eric Clapton's extensive collection has been photographed, showing the beauty of the design and the wear and tear often caused by years on the road.
Eric recalls the instruments he bought to emulate his heroes, the guitars with unknown origins that became their own legend, the ones that never left his side, and the legacy they left behind.
Strictly limited to 500 sets, the Six-String Stories Publisher's Copies present the hardback book with an exclusive bookplate signed by Genesis publishers Catherine and Nicholas Roylance, housed in a specially designed slipcase.
Each set also includes four exclusive 8" × 10" photographic prints: a portrait of Eric Clapton on the 1991 Rock Legends Tour of Japan, photographed by Genesis founder Brian Roylance, alongside three of Clapton's most iconic guitars – the 1956 Fender Stratocaster 'Blackie', the 1956 Fender Stratocaster 'Brownie' and the 1964 Gibson ES-335TDC 'Cherry'.
Completing the set are five removable guitar picks, presented in a specially designed Six-String Stories card.
Fewer than 250 Publisher's Copies now remain.
