Created in collaboration with Brian Wilson and Sir Peter Blake, That Lucky Old Sun is a handcrafted limited edition bringing together music, visual art and fine press publishing.
Inspired by Wilson’s celebrated album reflecting on his life in California, the edition pairs twelve original fine art serigraphs by Sir Peter Blake with a clothbound volume and facsimiles of Brian Wilson’s handwritten lyrics and sheet music.
More than fifteen years after its original publication, That Lucky Old Sun remains one of Genesis Publications’ most distinctive artistic collaborations — uniting one of modern music’s most influential composers with the artist whose work became synonymous with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and the visual identity of the 1960s.
Limited to 1,000 numbered copies worldwide and personally signed by Brian Wilson and Sir Peter Blake, the edition is now entering the final chapter of its availability from Genesis Publications.

Bound in rich Italian cloth, the gilded case encloses 12 hand-pulled original prints, produced as numbered, fine art serigraphs and signed by the artist.
Brian Wilson
That Lucky Old Sun was first performed at the Royal Festival Hall, London, in 2007. A year later it was developed in the studio. 'I wanted to put together a concept album,' Brian explains; and the result was hailed as a 'masterpiece' by The Times. This latest incarnation takes inspiration from Brian's original theme: a celebration of his life set against a moving tribute to his home state.
Sir Peter Blake
One of Britain's pioneers of 'Pop Art', Peter is an elected member of the Royal Academy, an associate artist of The National Gallery and, in 2003, more than 40 years after his first solo exhibition, was knighted by Her Majesty The Queen. He has often said his figurative painting is the core of his work, the trunk of a tree whose branches include excursions into Pop Art, collage and printmaking.
Presented as a limited edition book of only 1,000 numbered sets, That Lucky Old Sun is personally signed by both artists, Brian Wilson and Peter Blake.
The numbered volume, hand-signed by Brian Wilson and Sir Peter Blake, includes illustrated interviews with Brian alongside an essay by noted author Harvey Kubernik. Reflecting on his life, compositions and inspirations, Brian speaks candidly about the creative ideas behind That Lucky Old Sun and his enduring connection to California.
Accompanying the volume are twelve original fine art serigraphs by Sir Peter Blake, each individually printed and suitable for framing. Sized at 41.5cm x 31.7cm (16" x 12.5"), the artworks are presented alongside a preface by Peter, who describes the imagery and inspiration behind the series in his own words.
The collection is safely preserved within a handcrafted box, made in Italy and bound in two cloths, the colours of which represent the hues of the Californian sky. The box is decoratively blocked in silver and gold foils with a portrait of Brian inset on the inside cover.
The edition would not be complete without one of the first CD pressings of the album, a copy of which is included in every boxed set. Also included is an original laminate VIP pass, saved from the first live performances of That Lucky Old Sun. It is attached by a ribbon as a bookmark.
In design and finish That Lucky Old Sun is personally overseen and, as such, reflects the same spirit of invention for which Peter Blake and Brian Wilson are renowned.
