THE ARTISTS

Night Divides the Day

When The Doors formed in 1965, it would lead to a string of hit singles and albums that would become stone classics, but also something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness. Though they've had scores of imitators, there's never been another band quite like them. And 60 years since their formation, The Doors' music and legacy are more influential than ever. In 2025, the band's milestone anniversary will be celebrated with the publication of the first official anthology with unlimited access to The Doors' archives, Night Divides The Day.

THE ART EDITION

Night Divides the Day

Celebrating 60 years of The Doors in 2025, only 60 Art Edition copies are being created. Each set is hand-signed by The Doors' band members John Densmore and Robby Krieger.

The Art Edition features a special Artist Proof 'Collector' copy of Night Divides the Day, quarter-bound in apple leather, numbered in Roman numerals (from I to LX), and signed by John Densmore and Robby Krieger.

Each copy is accompanied by a replica 24-page programme from the band's 1968 tour, a booklet reproducing the master tape boxes of six of The Doors' albums, and an exclusive 7-inch vinyl record. This exclusive picture disc features rare demo recordings of "Hello, I Love You" and "Moonlight Drive", both tracks mastered by Bruce Botnick, especially for Night Divides the Day. The set is housed in a handmade clamshell box, the design of which is inspired by one of The Doors' official flight cases.

The centerpiece of the Art Edition is an exclusive new limited-edition artwork: an archival Giclée print on heavyweight, 100% cotton-rag paper. Titled 'New York '68', this colour montage features a series of rare and previously unseen images captured by The Doors' friend and photographer, Paul Ferrara. Taken in March 1968 in Central Park and at the Empire State Building, these intimate photos document the band's visit to New York City for two legendary nights at the East Village's iconic Fillmore East - now celebrated as some of the most iconic shows in both the history of the band and the venue. More information on these legendary performances can be found in Night Divides the Day

Hand-framed in black hardwood (size: 16½" x 20½") with a UV-protective glaze, each print is hand-numbered from 1 to 60, individually signed by The Doors' band members John Densmore and Robby Krieger, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the publishers.
