Exclusively for Genesis Publications, Mick Rock has selected photographs from his last session with Syd Barrett, reproduced as three large-format, signed and numbered artist prints on aluminium.
‘He seems tense, suspended. He treads through time and space very gingerly. Thin and pale, with eyes still shocked by it all, he looks like a poet of old. The wasted, ephemeral beauty of a Keats.’
So wrote Mick Rock of Pink Floyd’s founder member in Rolling Stone magazine. The year was 1971 and it would prove to be Syd Barrett’s last photo shoot.
The rare photos have only been published once before, in the Genesis book by Mick Rock,
Psychedelic Renegades. The photographs are now created for the first time as signed artist prints, each one of only 65 ever to be made.
The Syd Barrett Fund – a charity that helps to raise money for arts projects for mental health patients – is receiving a donation from the sale of every Syd Barrett photo print.
