Watch the Trailer for New Bowie Film, 'Moonage Daydream'
23 May 2022
The first trailer for the upcoming David Bowie documentary, Moonage Daydream, has just been released.
It shows Bowie emerging onto the stage in a series of clips from his Ziggy Stardust era and beyond. The feature film, which combines concert footage and what is described as an 'experimental cinematic odyssey' follows David Bowie's life and music - the first of its kind to be sanctioned by Bowie's estate. It's set for cinema release in September 2022.
Brett Morgen, the director behind music documentaries such as Crossfire Hurricane and Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, was presented with an abundance of material from the estate in 2017. Gathered from Bowie's personal archives, it includes Bowie's master recordings and hours of never-before-seen film footage, the former mixed by the artist's long-time producer, Tony Visconti.
The film shares its name with the legendary Genesis Publications book, which is re-released as a bookstore edition next month. It was originally published as a signed limited edition in 2002, when it was described by Rolling Stone as 'The closest we'll ever get to a straight up Bowie autobiography'. It features a commentary from the musician himself and over 600 photographs by Mick Rock.
'Ziggy Stardust blazed briefly but intensely, and I am delighted to see his life and times as a rock'n'roll star immortalised in this book.' - David Bowie
This uncut edition of Moonage Daydream, released in celebration of 50 years of Ziggy Stardust, presents the words and images in a new, larger format while keeping to Bowie and Rock's original vision.
