Tom Morello Collaborates with Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds, Shea Diamond and Bloody Beetroots

10 Jul 2020

In the last week Tom Morello released a new protest song titled, 'Stand Up, inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. After seeing over 1000 people attend a Black Lives Matter rally and march in his home town of Libertyville last month, the Rage Against the Machine guitarist was inspired to write a song.

'I was so inspired that night, I reached out to Dan from Imagine Dragons. The Bloody Beetroots and I had conjured a slamming track and within 24 hours Dan had sent back a completed vocal. We got Shea Diamond, a black transgender woman with a long history of activism, on the track and the coalition was complete.'

All proceeds from sales of Stand Up will go to NAACP, Know Your Rights Camp, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and the Marsha P. Johnson Institute.

Tom Morello is Genesis' latest author with his upcoming book, Whatever It Takes. In it Morello describes his remarkable life as a guitarist, songwriter, singer, and political activist. Through original commentary, handwritten notes, set lists and a wealth of photographs, this jam-packed photographic memoir is fascinating, honest, and completely unique.
