Today in 1969: Abbey Road by The Beatles

25 Sep 2024

Today marks the 55th anniversary of The Beatles' iconic Abbey Road, a record that continues to shape and inspire musicians to this day. Released in 1969, Abbey Road was the band's final studio collaboration and features legendary tracks like 'Come Together', 'Here Comes the Sun', and 'Something'.

"Who knew the Abbey Road cover would become so iconic? We were sitting in the studio thinking, 'Oh, we need a cover, let's go to Hawaii! Let's go to Egypt! Oh, sod it. Let's just walk across the road.' It was far out." - Ringo Starr

The album cover alone has become one of the most iconic and recognisable images of our time, with imitators still causing traffic disruptions today as they attempt to recreate the scene on London's most famous zebra crossing.
