One-Off Fleetwood Mac Celebration Coming to Cinemas
03 Sep 2021
Mick Fleetwood's concert in dedication to the late Peter Green is coming to cinemas next week. Titled Mick Fleetwood & Friends
, the show was captured in February 2020
at the London Palladium. It'll be shown at cinemas across the country on September 7 and 12 for a special screening.
The show features musical guests curated by Mick Fleetwood, including Noel Gallagher, Neil Finn from Crowded House, Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, Pink Floyd's David Gilmore, Kirk Hammett from Metallica, Rick Vito, Christine McVie and Jeremy Spencer from Fleetwood Mac, The Who's Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman, among others.
Originally in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, the concert included renditions of classic Fleetwood Mac songs, including 'Love that Burns,' Albatross' and 'Black Magic Woman,' all in tribute to Peter Green, one of the most legendary and celebrated musicians of the 20th century who died last year at 73 years old. Prior to the concert, Mick Fleetwood described the event as: "a celebration of those early blues days where we all began."
"It's important to recognize the profound impact Peter and the early Fleetwood Mac had on the world of music. Peter was my greatest mentor and it gives me such joy to pay tribute to his incredible talent. I am honoured to be sharing the stage with some of the many artists Peter has inspired over the years and who share my great respect for this remarkable musician."
Now, for two nights only, the concert returns to over 350 cinemas nationwide.
Mick Fleetwood also dedicated his book, Love That Burns
, to Peter Green. The official limited-edition autobiography contains over 400 rare images, as well as contributions from other members of Fleetwood Mac. Described by Billboard
as a 'lavish tome,' the book chronicles the band's time between 1967 and 1974.
