Happy Birthday Mike McCartney

Photographer, performer, artist and Genesis author,
Mike McCartney, celebrates his birthday today.
Over the last year, Genesis has enjoyed working with Mike on his book,
Mike McCartney's Early Liverpool, which celebrates the vibrant city at a time when it was experiencing a cultural sensation. The idea began with a letter sent in 1999 by Genesis founder Brian Roylance, where the seed was planted to publish Mike's early photographs. Over 20 years later, the edition is complete and currently being shipped to customers.
In the book, Mike recalls a particularly memorable birthday in which his brother Paul gifts him a new camera.
'One birthday while I was at the new house on the Wirral, a present arrived for me from Paul. It came in a brown leather case, emblazoned with the word "Nikon". Bloody hell! I opened it up and there it was, set in its red velvet lining: a Nikon, the Rolls-Royce of cameras.'
Mike's love of photography continues today, and throughout the making of the book, Mike worked hard to make sure his photographs looked their best. On
