Congratulations Dr. Jeff Lynne

Jeff Lynne has been awarded an honorary doctorate from Birmingham University to mark his contribution to music. This year Jeff will also get a star on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame, but said the recognition from his hometown is just as special.

‘Both honours are equally important to me, but I never dreamed I’d get a "clever” honour like this. I went to a secondary modern and once I got my first guitar that was all I ever wanted to do. I’m thrilled to bits. If I’m ever on a plane and they ask if there is a doctor on board, I will put my hand up.’– Jeff Lynne, 2014
