Genesis author Lou Reed was presented the
GQ ‘Inspiration of the Year’ award last night by Ronnie Wood.
‘I believe in the power of punk. And to this day, I wanna blow it up.’ – Lou Reed, tweeted by Gary Kemp from the GQ Awards
Lou is visiting London to reveal his new limited edition book with Mick Rock, TRANSFORMER. The photographic essay and record set shows how Lou Reed truly deserves the prestigious award. His music, style and art have inspired generations, and he continues to be an original and groundbreaking artist today.
‘Lou has been a relentlessly original artist in a modern world where imitation and appropriation have corroded the citadels of inspiration.’ – Mick Rock in TRANSFORMER
‘I was using fashion to have fun and play. I guess I influenced people, but not as much as the guy who was first out there doing it. The first one has got to be Little Richard, flat out of the box. You could never catch him!’ – Lou Reed in TRANSFORMER
Since 1974 Genesis has created signed limited edition books on behalf of authors and artists ranging from the Beatles to Buckingham Palace.
