25 Feb 2013
Today, 25th February, would have been George Harrison's 70th birthday, and people all over the world are celebrating the occasion.
'He could get you laughing really hard you know and I held my sides and tried not to hurt with him. Some people have this image of him as a kind of reverent guy, which he was, but he was also rip-you-apart funny.' - Tom Petty in CONCERT FOR GEORGE
There will be an exhibition at The Liverpool Academy of Arts, with fans around the world invited to send in their birthday cards to George. The Beatles' home town is celebrating the date with a number of events throughout the city, including a vigil at the Beatles statue in Cavern Walks, projecting a huge image of George onto the wall of Albert Dock, and George themed workshops at The Beatles Story. There will also be birthday celebrations in Hollywood, New York, Oregon and Massachusetts. To find out more about these events you can visit George Harrison's website by clicking here.
