Clapton Quits The Yardbirds

On this day in 1965, Eric Clapton left The Yardbirds to pursue a purer blues sound. Around two weeks later he would join John Mayall's Blues Breakers, where he gained his reputation as a guitar god.

'I was going through my purist number then. For me, in those days, blues was the only kind of music and I didn't like anything else.' - Eric Clapton, SIX-STRING STORIES

For insight into the guitars that helped Clapton gain his legendary status, take a look at his new limited edition, SIX-STRING STORIES, by clicking here.
