The Beatles at The University of Surrey

10 Oct 2011

The University of Surrey's Lewis Elton Gallery is hosting a private viewing this evening of Michael Ward and Klaus Voormann's Beatles photography and artwork, before being officially opened to the public from the 11th of October. A DAY IN THE LIFE and HAMBURG DAYS are on display as part of the 2011 Guildford Book Festival which runs from the 13-22 October and aims to engage, entertain and raise the profile of the written word.

The University works hand-in-hand to produce the Festival and it is its rich music history that made it an ideal location to showcase the fine signed limited edition books and portfolios by Genesis Publications. They boast the honour of being the venue at which Led Zeppelin performed together for the first time in 1968, and yesterday, 9th October, they celebrate 40 years since The Who performed on John Entwistle's birthday to a crowd of just 600 - one of the smallest and most intimate performances the band band ever played during the Seventies.
