Worthington Cup Winners

Andy Thompson, the author of This Is Anfield, has given us his exclusive report of Liverpool's Worthington Cup victory on March 1st, 2003:
Liverpool thoroughly deserved their latest triumph. They were first in every tackle, first to every loose ball and first on to the podium to collect a cup which, in itself, may not be as important as other prizes, but in context signifies a very welcome return to the kind of form which has given Liverpool supporters so much renewed pride in their team since Gérard Houllier took charge in 1998. It was a very public vindication of the manager, and a very big poke in the eye for those whose idea of supporting a team is to take to the airwaves and whinge. This should shut them up for a while. And wasn't Fergie's face a picture?
