David Bowie headlined at Glastonbury festival on Sunday 25th June, 2000. The all-new release documents this memorable performance, featuring it in full for the very first time - previously, only 30 minutes of the set was ever broadcasted on television.
Alongside the video, the new release, Bowie Glastonbury 2000, will include 21 songs from his greatest hits. Due to arrive November 30th via Parlophone Records (in association with BBC Studios), the release will come as a two-CD/DVD set, triple-LP, and as two-CD collection as well as on digital platforms.
Bowie Glastonbury 2000 will also feature Bowie's tour diary from that time, originally written for Time Out, which documents his preparation for the festival and the headlining gig. Completing the package will be a selection of photographs and liner notes from author Caitlin Moran - who originally reviewed the Glastonbury set for The Times.
The release of Bowie Glastonbury 2000 was announced yesterday, October 2nd. Glastonbury co-organiser, Emily Eavis, stated in a press release on David Bowie's official website, "I often get asked what the best set I've seen here at Glastonbury is, and Bowie's 2000 performance is always one which I think of first. It was spellbinding; he had an absolutely enormous crowd transfixed. I think Bowie had a very deep relationship with Worthy Farm and he told some wonderful stories about his first time at the Festival in 1971, when he stayed at the farmhouse and performed at 6am as the sun was rising. And he just played the perfect headline set. It really was a very special and emotional show".
Bowie Glastonbury 2000 is now available for pre-order.
