Bob Dylan's Fender Guitar from his Blonde on Blonde Sessions to be Auctioned

15 Mar 2019

Bob Dylan's Fender guitar is due to be auctioned March 16th at Heritage Auctions. Dylan played the 1965 Fender Electric XII twelve-string guitar for his Blonde on Blonde LP. Often referred to as one of the most important albums in the history of popular music, this 1966 studio album achieved double-platinum status. Rolling Stone even included two songs from this iconic album on their '500 Greatest Songs of All Time' list.

What's more, the Fender Electric XII is incredibly rare, with its sunburst finish, original pearloid pickguard and amplifier-style knobs. Only a handful of these specific instruments have ever been produced because the pickguard was quickly changed to a more common tortoiseshell version.

This legendary guitar can be seen with Bob Dylan in a number of photos from the time. A signed letter from Bob Dylan's management confirming that this is the electric guitar he owned and used for the Blonde on Blonde sessions accompanies the guitar.
