60 Years Ago: Beatles Rock The London Palladium

11 Jan 2024

On this day in 1964, the Fab Four appeared on Val Parnell's Sunday Night At The London Palladium performing 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand', 'This Boy', 'All My Loving', 'Money' and 'Twist And Shout' to an estimated UK audience of up to 15 million viewers.

Three months prior, The Beatles earned £250 for their appearance on this show. Now, their fee had skyrocketed to £1,000, a reflection of their rapid escalation in popularity and the rise of 'Beatlemania'. 60 years ago, The Beatles were on the cusp of global success - only a month later they would take the USA by storm.

'I used to set my camera up on a tripod so that I could take photographs of the television, especially when Paul was on.' - Mike McCartney

Reflecting on this moment in music history, today we are highlighting some of our favourite books from the Genesis Beatles catalogue that lead up to this moment and help continue the story thereafter.
Additionally, until Sunday 14th January we are celebrating the 60th anniversary with FREE Shipping on these titles exclusively for Genesis subscribers. To apply your subscriber discount, use the gift code BEATLES64 when you checkout with any of the editions below.
