Mr Fantasy - The Lyrics of Jim Capaldi, a celebration of the life and lyrics of Traffic's drummer, poet and founder. Capaldi was the lyricist behind Traffic's 11 albums, including the hit songs 'Dear Mr. Fantasy', '40,000 Headmen' and 'Paper Sun'. Originally inspired by The Beatles, Jim wrote for the Eagles and played alongside George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.
Written in collaboration with Aninha Capaldi, Robert Plant and Steve Winwood,
Mr Fantasy collated over 70 handwritten lyrics and was illustrated with images of Traffic and illuminated with the recollections of 40 legendary contributors. Many musicians paid tribute to their friend including Plant, who wrote the Foreword, and luminaries such as
Paul Weller, Steven Van Zandt,
Yusuf / Cat Stevens,
Tom Petty and Dave Matthews spoke of the impact Jim Capaldi made on their work.
While not yet fully subscribed, this wonderful limited edition has remained out of print for some time.
