America's Cup Limited Edition
12 Jan 2004
Genesis Publications is teaming up with renowned artist Michael Frith for a book celebrating all the history, beauty and excitement of the America's Cup.
In 2001, the cup celebrated its Jubilee year with a massive gathering of historic America's Cup yachts at Cowes, where the first event took place in 1851. It was a true one off; an occasion the likes of which had never been seen before, and won't be seen again. Caught up in the excitement of seeing so many pieces of history restored and racing once again, Michael resolved to mark the event with a series of paintings.
Classic Boats Of The America's Cup tells the history of the cup - illustrated with many unseen archived images - culminating with the Jubilee and Michael's watercolours and sketches. Stunningly reproduced, his pieces firmly capture the magic of the Jubilee; the drama and tradition of the world's most famous yacht race; as well as the grace and elegance of these classic boats.
Editor of Classic Boat magazine, Dan Houston, provides the text - including a Jubilee diary deftly evoking the atmosphere of the event - and full technical information for each featured boat.
