Genesis Publications was pleased to present the Liverpool FC Former Players Association with a cheque for £5,500 last Friday (March 7th). The money, to be donated to charity, has been raised through initial sales of This Is Anfield, our limited edition which has been hailed as 'the greatest football book ever.'
The donation will be given to one or more of the several charities supported by the LFC FPA which include: The Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Liverpool's Broad Green Hospital, The Variety Club, Sunshine Coaches and the North West Guide Dog for the Blind Association.
Ian Callaghan, Secretary of the FPA and one of several former players attending the ceremony said, 'Our association with Genesis Publications has been more than happy and everything we have done with them has been a pleasure for us to be involved in.' Other Liverpool FC heroes at the presentation included Ron Yeats, David Fairclough, Phil Neal, Alan Kennedy, David Johnson, Brian Hall, Tommy Lawrence and Pete Thompson. The event was attended by Sky Sports TV, BBC Radio Merseyside, the Liverpool Echo, LFC Weekly and Liverpool FC's Official Match Day Programme. Read the Liverpool Echo's article on the event.
The FPA will continue to receive payments on the sale of copies of This Is Anfield until the limited edition is sold out.
