Liverpool Media Go Big On Genesis Awards

24 Dec 2003

Liverpool's morning paper, the Daily Post, has just published a full page article on the Genesis Publications/Liverpool Community College Sports Photography Awards.

The Post mentioned the support for the awards from Genesis Publications and quoted former Reds star, David Fairclough, praising the quality of the entries.

He said: "It wasn't just one subjcect, but a variety. The students have really caputured the mood of the sports they covered."

The article also referred to This Is Anfield, the much-acclaimed book by Genesis Publications and world-renowned photo journalist, Steve Hale. Another pointer was our donation from the sales going to the Liverpool Football Club Former Players Association.

With a new cheque from sales due in the New Year the donations will top £10,000.

At the same time, Liverpool FC's biggest media outlet, its official web site lfc.tv, has run a two page article on the Awards, making the story its top headline on its Home Page on Friday 19th December.

The site, which gets 15 million hits a month from around the world, also quoted the Liverpool Community College lecturer, Alan McKernan, as saying: "We'd love to do the Awards again next year. They really have galvanized people into action."
