22 December 2004 GENESIS CHRISTMAS PARTY The Genesis Christmas party took place last Thursday. In line with tradition, three hotly contested games of ten pin bowling were followed by dinner at Brian's favourite curry house, Molonchos. In the bowling, competition as usual was fierce but David came through as the clear winner. He now holds the coveted crown of Genesis Bowling Champion 2004/2005 and the equally coveted trophy. Saucy Secret Santa presents were distributed to one and all - Robby being particularly pleased with his. See more pictures here. CONCERT FOR GEORGE ON TV IN NY

Concert For George was shown on Channel Thirteen in the New York area on Wednesday 8th December. It was shown as part of the week of fundraiser events for the public broadcast network.

Brian Roylance appeared on the programme to present the new Concert For George limited edition book. Anyone who donates $1,500 to Channel Thirteen will receive a copy of the book.

MAJOR NEW STONES PROJECT

MOONAGE RAISES £750 FOR SUDAN

Last week, one of the final unsold copies of Moonage Daydream raised £750 to ease the suffering in crisis-hit Sudan. The book, signed by Mick Rock and David Bowie and donated by Genesis Publications, was sold at a charity auction held at Bar Revolution in Bath, UK, on November 18.

The auction, titled We'd Rather Go Naked... Than See People Suffer was organised by Rachel Al-Habib and Sarah Lynott - daughter of Thin Lizzy singer Phil - and offered a unique take on the charity auction. Scantily clad waiters and waitresses sold raffle tickets and dished out drinks and nibbles, while all the fashion items donated were sold right off the models' backs as they stood on the auction room floor. It made for some interesting photographs, but for the sake of decency, we're only showing Moonage Daydream as it went under the hammer. Among those who donated clothes to the event was Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson. A total of #15,000 was raised on the night, all of which goes to Medicins Sans Frontieres.

VH1 have interviewed Kate Simon about her new book with Genesis, Rebel Music: Bob Marley and Roots Reggae. In it she talks about how she started as a photographer, how she approaches her subjects, and what Kingston, Jamaica, was like in the late Seventies.

EXILE EXHIBITION IN LONDON

Exile, Dominique Tarlé's photographs of The Rolling Stones at Villa Nellcôte in 1972, was one of our most popular editions ever published. Postcards From The Boys is now available in a redesigned mass market version which you can buy from all good book stores and on amazon.co.uk and amazon.com. In Britain you can see Ringo Starr on the Jonathan Ross show tonight and on the Richard and Judy show on Monday and the next Jools Holland show. Postcards is raising considerable amounts of money for the Lotus Foundation Charity.

When our hugely successful limited edition I Me Mine by George Harrison became a mass market book, it made the whole world aware of the limited edition which then became the highly sought-after volume which it is today. So if you're the owner of one of the signed limited editions of Postcards then you've made a good purchase, and we'd also like to thank you for the money which we've been able to send to The Lotus Foundation. If you're not the owner of the limited edition then you may be able to get one of the few remaining copies from our website, but after this weekend that may not be possible.

KILLER QUEEN 'A WORK OF ART'

Juxtapoz magazine in the USA has called Killer Queen a "work of art". The review, which appeared in the magazine's September issue, goes on to say that "Killer Queen is a gorgeous period retrospective" , assembled in "loving homage".

We agree - of course! - but if you want to see for yourself, we still have some copies available. However, be quick as Queen's stunning stage show, We Will Rock You is due to open in Las Vegas soon and already interest from the original city of sin is proving overwhelming.

NME DEVOTES 8 PAGES TO TFR

The New Musical Express has splashed out eight pages on the exhibition, describing it as a collection of 'incredibly rare images of rock stars at work and play taken by some of the very best photographers of the era'.

The current issue (19 June 2004) carries quotes from Astrid Kirchherr (The Beatles), Mick Rock (Bowie and Syd Barrett), Jerry Schatzberg (Hendrix) and Colin Jones (The Who). It also talks of Barrett reclining on a car bonnet and Pete Townshend posing warily with his smashed guitars.

BELGIUM'S LEADING QUALITY COVERS TFR

De Standaard has also reviewed the exhibition with generous praise. It's article is entitled Rare Views of the Lives of Rock Stars and states: 'Music fans are used to seeing photos of their idols on stage performing. But this exhibition gives a completely different picture of rock icons at home'.

It shows the Bowie and John Entwistle photos and talks of the show moving from London to its current home (until 22 June) in Nottingham.

MIDLANDS MEDIA COVER NOTTINGHAM TFR OPENING

As our Rock Icons exhibition moves from London to the Midlands with the opening today (Wednesday 16th till 22 June), local media has been showing great interest.

So, if you're in the Midlands look out for the Central Television News interview with our curator, Elle Foster, today and news stories in today's Nottingham Evening Post.

The 44 photos of The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Bowie, Dylan et al, attracted much attention from the world media when Thirty Flight Rock opened in London just a month ago.

Articles and programmes appeared in the nationals, regionals, ITN and papers in Brazil, Holland, Belgium and Japan.

We also featured on the Daily Mail, Evening Standard and BBC websites.

Discussions continue for a possible roadshow in Sweden, Russia, Japan and Italy.

RECORD COLLECTOR FEATURES TFR

The RC has devoted half a page to Thirty Flight Rock in its June issue. In a piece entitled Genesis Exhibitionism the magazine detailed photograhpers and their subjects as well as our website. Photos of Townshend, Bowie, John Entwistle and The Beatles accompany the story.

The photo of Bowie also contained a mention of the Thirty Flight Rock book expected this autumn to mark our 30th anniversary.

TFR ROLLS ON

Thirty Flight Rock: Our 30th Anniversary Exhibition, 30 Flight Rock, has moved on from London and the next venue is The Penthouses, Park Rock 4, Castle Boulevard, The Park, Nottingham, where it can be seen from Wednesday 16th June until Tuesday 22nd June from 12- 5pm daily. From there it goes to Milan, Scandinavia and who knows where.

You can see photos from the London showing here. It was a huge success and the feedback that we got was that it was great for people to see all the books together, and spend time browsing through them. Everyone liked the image collection too. It was fantastic for us to meet so many people.

If you would like to attend the preview for the Nottingham show, on the evening of Tuesday 15th June between 6-8pm please RSVP to Tessa at . Spaces are limited and therefore we may only be able to accommodate those who respond fastest. Of course, there is always the chance to see the show between 16 and 22 June.

In Nottingham you'll also be able to see the dummy bindings for Rebel Music, our new remarkable Bob Marley book. MARLEY BOOK MARKS 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF CLAPTON'S 'SHERIFF'

Genesis Publications' latest title, Rebel Music: Bob Marley and Roots Reggae, is due to be published at the end of July; exactly 30 years since Eric Clapton took a cover of Marley's 'I Shot The Sheriff' to the top of charts all around the world. To mark the occasion, Eric Clapton has kindly taken time out of his current world tour and signed 350 Deluxe copies of the book.

Eric was one of the first mainstream rock artists to pay serious attention to Marley's music, and his cover was a tremendous help in introducing the Wailers to a worldwide audience.

Rebel Music features over 400 photographs taken from Kate Simon's wonderful archive, spanning Marley's 1975 concerts at London's Lyceum ballroom, to his funeral in Kingston, 1981. Bob's story is told with the help of 24 contributors - friends, musicians and admirers - including Wailers Junior Marvin, Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, Neville Garrick and tour chef and Bob's close friend Antonio 'Gilly' Gilbert, as well as Chris Blackwell, former manager/publisher Danny Sims, Bob's contemporary Junior Delgado, and Clash bassist Paul Simonon. The Introduction is written by Patti Smith.

REBEL MUSIC: BOB MARLEY AND ROOTS REGGAE

Eric Clapton - whose cover of Marley's 'I Shot The Sheriff' topped charts around the world in 1975 helping to make the song's author a household name in the process - has now finished signing Deluxe copies of Rebel Music: Bob Marley and Roots Reggae.

This, our latest title, is due to be published at the end of July and we hope to be taking orders from June.

It features the photography of Kate Simon, and text from 24 contributors, from close friends and Wailers like Junior Marvin and Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, to fellow musicians such as Junior Delgado. Patti Smith provides the Introduction.

Rebel Music continues Genesis Publications' tradition for outstanding design as well as content. The book's 256 pages are printed on five different paper stocks, including one made entirely from cannabis. Deluxe copies are housed in a unique, stunning wooden box with sliding lid. Both the lid and the base of the box are screen printed with images of Bob Marley.

Kate first shot Bob in concert at his legendary live dates at The Lyceum in London, 1975. Over the next six years, she spent an increasing amount of time in Jamaica shooting all the leading lights of the golden era of roots reggae: Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, Lee Perry, Augustus Pablo, King Tubby, U-Roy, Big Youth, Jacob Miller, Culture and many many more. She also continued to shoot Bob, in Kingston at the One Love Peace Concert, touring with him and The Wailers in 1977, and finally, following Marley's coffin as part of his funeral cortege in 1981.

Rebel Music features the best of Kate's remarkable archive of Bob Marley photos, and also includes definitive images of the other stars of the age. The book also includes a comprehensive timeline of Bob's life, featuring a complete chronology of his recordings and UK and US releases.

MICK ROCK PERSONALISES KILLER QUEEN

Mick Rock was in attendance at the opening night of Genesis Publications' 30th anniversary exhibition 30 Flight Rock last week (13th May 2004). Also there were a large number of Genesis subscribers and, while chatting away, Mick was happy to personalise copies of his most recent Genesis book, Killer Queen, as well as his other titles, Psychedelic Renegades and Moonage Daydream. All three titles have proved enormously popular with Moonage Daydream and Killer Queen close to selling out. All remaining copies of Moonage Daydream are additionally signed by David Bowie, and Killer Queen is also signed by Brian May and Roger Taylor.

The exhibition will run until June 2nd at The Plattform, Saab Showroom, 77 Piccadilly, London. Copies of all Genesis titles will be on sale at the venue for the duration of the exhibition.

A SMOULDERING ROD STEWART IN METRO

Metro, the freesheet for commuters in London, Glasgow, Leeds and Birmingham with nearly 1 million readers a day, has featured the Genesis exhibition, Thirty Flight Rock.

With a title of The First Cat is the Deepest, it features the David Steen photo of Rod Stewart in bed with his cat, both quietly smouldering. The sheets liberally dotted with hearts (what else??) reach just above his pelvis.

The piece also trails David's book out later this year, 'Heroes and Villains'.

STARS ALL ATTEND THE OPENING NIGHTS OF TFR

A starry cast celebrated our 30th anniversary on Wednesday and Thursday night in London with two former Stones, Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor, one former Beatle, Ringo Starr and two of the world's most beautiful women, Britt Eckland and Barbara Bach - Ringo's missus.

Then Billy Connolly popped in, having seen us on ITN earlier in the day.

ITN RUNS TWO SEPARATE STORIES ON THE EXHIBITION

ITN ran an early morning story through the day from 6 o'clock about the exhibition, then a fuller account in the evening news.

The first story featured Brian Roylance, the Genesis founder, talking about the show. The second story on London Tonight featured Astrid Kirchherr talking about The Beatles; Mick Rock on Bowie and Syd Barrett, and Colin Jones talking about The Who.

YAHOO ENTERTAINMENT WEB SITE FEATURES RINGO ARRIVING AT THE PARTY

Ringo and Barbara Bach were spotted by a cameraman arriving at the Wednesday party and found themselves featuring in a news story and webcam appearance on Yahoo. The Yahoo entertainment site is watched by millions of celeb fans and we are delighted that the show will be known about globally.

Press attendance at the Thursday part included The Sunday Times, Conran Magazine, Yomiuri Shimbun (the world's biggest selling paper with 10 million sales every day in Japan), the Asahi Shimbun and one of Brazil's biggest quality papers, O Globo. We were very happy to have such a distinguished group of journalists.

VH1 will be running a Genesis advertisement for Thirty Flight Rock across four channels from 20:53 tonight. The advert conceived, produced, shot and scored by our head of Genesis Productions, Nick Roylance, makes Genesis history tonight (Wednesday, 12th May 2004) as our sponsor VH1 runs Nick's ad across VH1, VH1TMFUK and VH2 till 25th May 23:53h.

The 30 second commercial features photos of Hendrix, Lennon, Queen et al from the exhibition, and is the first broadcast work ever from our new TV division, Genesis Productions.

THIRTY FLIGHT ROCK EXHIBITION HITS 13 MILLION ORANGE PHONES

Orange Phones have featured the Genesis Rock Icons exhibition opening on Thursday with photos and text. This is appearing on the 13 million phones in the UK on the Orange Phones Galleries Page. This is the first time that Genesis Publications has been exposed to such a massive phone audience with one impact and we hope that many Orange users will visit the Saab Gallery at 77 Piccadilly, London W1.

ONE MILLION LONDONERS READ ABOUT TFR ON THE EVENING STANDARD WEBSITE

The Evening Standard web site, ThisIsLondon, with 1 million hits a day, is featuring the exhibition with pictures of Rod Stewart and friends. Also the Daily Mail with its extremely strong newspaper branding and which just started at the weekend, is highlighting the show.

THIRTY FLIGHT ROCK: GUEST LIST NOW CLOSED

The guest list for the private viewing of the Genesis exhibition, Thirty Flight Rock, on Thursday 13th May is now closed. We've had an overwhelming response from people wishing to attend and we're now expecting a very busy night indeed.

The exhibition will continue to run for three weeks at The Plattform, Saab showroom, 77 Piccadilly, between 9.30am and 6pm.

THE BBC DEVOTES SIX PAGES TO GENESIS EXHIBITION ON ITS WEBSITE

The BBC website with 15 million hits a day and some 3 million unique users, has featured Thirty Flight Rock on its Front Page (Entertainment) with a whole page describing the exhibition, followed by five pages of photos from the show. These pictures include Rod Stewart, The Beatles, The Who and David Bowie.

The story is entitled: Music Icons Go on Display and will stay on the site for three weeks of the exhibition (13th May - 2nd June). The 3 million unique users also have a link to the Genesis Publications website.

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH DEVOTES NEARLY HALF A PAGE TO GENESIS EXHIBITION

The week our Rock Icons exhibition, Thirty Flight Rock (TFR) kicked off today (Monday 10th May) with a news story in The Daily Telegraph. This features shots of John Entwistle (by Colin Jones), David Bowie (by Mick Rock) and Rod Stewart (by David Steen).

The Telegraph describes TFR as 'a collection of rare pictures of some of the biggest names in rock and pop, which are being shown together for the first time in an exhibition opening this week.'

It also praised the photos for offering 'a refreshingly natural insight into the world of celebrity'.

The story quoted all three photographers and mentioned Genesis Publications.

THE GUARDIAN WELCOMES 'RARE GLIMPSES INTO DOMESTIC LIVES OF ROCK STARS'

Today (Monday's) Guardian also ran a prominent story on TFR which it stated 'features the work of some of the most noted rock photographers'. The article went big on the early Bowie shot by Mick Rock, 'which has never been published before in a newspaper'.

It also published Colin Jones's classic photo of domesticity with John Entwistle playing the guitar as his mother's knee as she is sewing.

Entitled 'Home Truths', The Guardian added: 'Thirty Flight Rock affords some rare glimpses into the domestic lives of rock and pop icons ... with one image of Bowie posing splendidly in bright platform shoes in his son's equaaly lurid pink bedroom'.

The piece also mentioned the Genesis website, the London dates and the Nottingham dates.

THE DAILY EXPRESS FEATURES THIRTY FLIGHT ROCK

The Express devoted almost half a page on the show, featuring Rod Stewart, Bowie and Entwistle and Mum. It talks of 'topless' Rod Stewart in his bed in Beverley Hills, 'flamboyant' Bowie and mentions how the exhibition is 'marking the 30th anniversary of Genesis Publications, who produce rock and pop books'.

ALTOGETHER MORE THAN 6 MILLION READERS FIND OUT ABOUT GENESIS EXHIBITION

GENESIS, 'CARTIER OF THE PUBLISHING WORLD'

The British Beatles Fan Club Magazine has paid Genesis Publications a great honour in its current review of Postcards from the Boys.

The Fanzine wries: 'In Genesis you've got the publishing world's equivalent of Cartier or Faberge, producing printed jewels of unsurpassed beauty for members of rock's aristocracy, who, given their status, don't really need to get involved with projects such as this, but simply can't help themselves.'

The reviewer describes Postcards from the Boys as 'a delightful, deluxe, must-have item for anyone who cherishes the Beatles ... it's a triumph.'

OBSERVER GREETS POSTCARDS AS 'A GOOD INVESTMENT'

The Observer has broken from its tradition of lambasting Genesis Publications for the price of its books. On the contrary, in his generous review of Postcards from the Boys, Sean O'Hagan writes: 'Postcards is an extravagantly packaged artefact aimed at the serious collector... For your £295 you also get a sheet of Ringo and Beatles' stamps, as well as his signature, which, alone, probably makes it a good investment.'

In a warm and good-humoured review, Life Magazine, the Sunday Indy's weekend supplement has described This Is Anfield thus: 'it is as lavish and indulgent a book as you will ever see ... so stunningly presented that even the staunchest fans of Everton or Manchester United will be impressed...'

Evan Fanning continues; 'Anfield will offer more than just temporary respite from the relentless misery that Liverpool fans have been enduring... [it is] necessary to preserve the sanity of long-suffering Reds fans.'

GENESIS PUBLICATIONS 30TH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION IN LONDON

We are delighted to announce a large exhibition of photos of rock icons in the heart of London. Thirty Flight Rock (TFR) will open on 13th May and continue until 2nd June at Saab's Plattform space at 77 Piccadilly, London W1 almost opposite The Ritz.

Photos from 30 years of our books will be shown, featuring The Beatles, Stones, Queen, The Who, Dylan, Lennon, Bowie, Marley and Hendrix. There will also be photos from our modern history of Liverpool FC, This Is Anfield.

Photographers represented include Gered Mankowitz, Bob Gruen, Mick Rock, Colin Jones, Dominique Tarlé, David Steen, Ross Halfin and sports photographer, Steve Hale.

There will be over 40 photos plus prints from paintings by Ronnie Wood and Peter Blake. Also showing for the first time will be the trailer for Genesis Productions first DVD feature film - the documentary of the life of George Martin.

In addition Genesis Productions have created a commercial for TFR to be screened over a two week period. This will air on music television station, VH1 Classic, who are one of our sponsors. The commercial can be viewed in the Picturehouse.

ITALY'S LEADING PAPER CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF GENESIS

Il Corriere della Sera, Italy's biggest selling newspaper, has published a three page feature on Genesis in its March edition of Io, the lifestyle magazine. The article follows the visit by a reporter and photographer to our Guildford home. It also contains very fine photos of Brian Roylance and Max sitting on the front door step as well as the team, modestly bearing books.

The article is very generous and is labelled as Precious Books ... 'not to be read on the tube, but bought at auctions at Christie's ... along with former literary people like P.G Wodehouse and Lewis Carroll, Genesis Publications is now the pride of Guildford ... a tiny publisher which has succeeded in becoming the envy of the big boys ... CALIFORNIAN MAG HAILS POSTCARDS AS EXQUISITE

Valley Scene, the magazine distributed to nearly 100,000 homes in California's San Fernando Valley, has run a very positive review of Postcards from the Boys.

Literary editor Phyllis Pollack praises the book as an "exquisite tome ... an amazing coffee-table quality book with ... fascinating insight into the personal relationships between the Beatles."

BBC RADIO 2 SAYS KILLER QUEEN IS 'AMAZING'

One of BBC's most popular shows, The Steve Wright Show on Radio 2, has called Killer Queen 'an amazing book of photographs, chronicling a period in the life of Queen.'

On Wednesday DJ Mark Goodier, standing in for Steve Wright, was full of praise for our Mick Rock, Brian May, Roger Taylor book, saying it contains 'a lot of gems with a fantastic commentary by Roger Taylor and others.'

'It's a sort of coffee table book' he told his 3.5 million listeners, 'with work by the famous, famous photographer, Mick Rock, and Mick has managed to capture defining moments of Queen's early days with his photos.'

Goodier added that the book had revealed things he never knew about the group. His guest, drummer, Roger Taylor, said 'Queen goes back along with Mick Rock. We first met him in the early 70s when he was doing his Ziggy photos with Bowie. He's very creative and we loved his work.'

MOJO USES KILLER QUEEN PHOTO FOR FRONT COVER

The current (April) issue of MOJO has done Mick Rock and Genesis Publications proud. The Freddie Mercury Marlene Dietrich-inspired portrait from our new book Killer Queen features on the front cover.

A full page on P.73 follows of the band with a gold sceptre, accompanying the cover story, entitled the Majesty of Rock. Mick has a further three photos in the piece plus his record covers of Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack. That makes a total of seven photos used by Mick and the 10-page feature ends with a credit for Killer Queen and Genesis Publications.

Q MAGAZINE CALLS POSTCARDS 'A CHARMING CURIO'

Q has pinpointed Ringo's lost years in its current April issue. It highlights the fact that Ringo's commentary to the cards reveal that he can't remember playing on George Harrison's All Things Must Pass.

The review also says that 'the doodles and in-jokes make this a charming curio for the Beatles fanatic'. But it carps at the price of the book. Clearly, Beatles fans disagree as they have bought nearly all of this fastest-ever selling limited edition.

Q CALLS KILLER QUEEN A MUST-HAVE

In the same issue Q is full of enthusiasm for Killer Queen, writing: 'Mick Rock shot the band in all their early period pomp ... This impressive tome contains a multitude of Rock's cracking live shots, out-takes and brilliantly cheesy, unused press pics, all interspersed with reminiscences and quotes from the time. ELLE (GERMANY) FEATURES POSTCARDS

Elle (Germany) has written about Postcards in the current issue of the woman's magazine which has 500,000 readers. The article calls the book ' a special album' and describes how it contains cards sent to Ringo by the boys from places as far-flung as India, Hawaii and Italy. The piece includes a pack shot of the book plus a card and John and Yoko's card from Hawaii.

ROGER TAYLOR ON STEVE WRIGHT SHOW TO TALK ABOUT KILLER QUEEN

Roger Taylor, the former Queen star and co-author of our new book Killer Queen, will be on BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright Show on Wednesday 17th March. The show starts at 2 p.m. (London Time) and goes on till 5.05 p.m. and Roger will be discussing Killer Queen with Mark Goodier, who is hosting the SWS this week.

This is the first BBC radio interview either Roger, Brian May or Mick Rock have given about the book and should be well worth tuning into (88-91 FM or listen live from the BBC website).

Killer Queen focuses on the very early years of Queen starting with the breakthrough concert at Imperial College in November 1973.

GENESIS TITLES STILL ON THE RISE

Henry Pordes booksellers in Charing Cross Road, London are offering second-hand Deluxe copies of three Genesis titles. The three in question are Cook's 'Endeavour' Journal, Darwin's 'Beagle' Journal and Bligh's 'Providence' Journal. They are priced at #1,000, #895 and #895 respectively and are being sold with original letters to the customer from Brian Roylance. All three were originally sold at #325 each.

A handful of Regular copies of Darwin's 'Beagle' Journal and Bligh's 'Providence' Journal are still available to order.

FT CALLS POSTCARDS AN 'OBJET D'ART'

The Financial Times this weekend described Postcards from the Boys as 'more of an object d'art than a book' and 'a huge, beautifully packaged album of postcards sent to Ringo by the other Beatles ... from the early days through quarrels and silences to the end.'

The FT review was entitled 'Messages from the Edge - Ringo's Memorabilia', and it added: 'Perfect reproductions make you feel the Fab Four's story is in your hands and Ringo's captions are a mini-history in themselves. One for aficionados.'

LA REPUBBLICA HAILS KILLER QUEEN

La Repubblica, Italy's top quality tabloid has devoted five pages to Killer Queen in its weekend magazine, il Venerdi.

Il Semanal, Spain's weekend magazine read by 4.5 million people has run a eulogy with seven pictures on Postcards from the Boys.

Il Semanal writes: 'The book is an indispensable diary of the adventures of the Fab Four through their 53 postcards. It contains comments by Ringo and chronicles the years they conquered the world.'

ANFIELD: THE GUARDIAN HAILS 'LEATHER BOUND MONSTER'

The Guardian Guide has praised This Is Anfield, Genesis Publications' modern history of Liverpool FC in a review, admiring 'its lavish evocation of glorious games'. The book, it sighs, 'provokes the same tear-stained sentimentality as Michael Aspel's red tome in This Is Your Life.'

GENESIS AND GEORGE MARTIN VISIT MONTSERRAT

The picture shows Nick Roylance on the island of Montserrat finishing the filming of the forthcoming Playback DVD. On Montserrat Sir George Martin showed the Genesis crew around the derelict Air Studios so tragically damaged by Hurricane Hugo and the subsequent volcanic eruption.

PLAYBACK DVD - FROM ABBEY ROAD TO MONTSERRAT

2003 was a busy time for our George Martin: Playback DVD production. In December alone, six new contributors took part in our filming which has been in progress for over a year, and continues in 2004 with Sir George in Montserrat. The last six artists to take part were Jeff Beck, Cilla Black, Gary Brooker, Bernard Cribbins, Alice Cooper and Ray Cooper.

Also, at the end of November, we spent a wonderful afternoon with Sir George on location at Abbey Road Studios, and a wealth of fascinating material arose out of the session. See more about the progress on this film production on our updated web page.

BBC RADIO ENTHUSES OVER POSTCARDS

BBC Radio this week praised Postcards From The Boys as 'so brilliantly produced' as well as 'unique and unusual'.

In his morning show on BBC Southern Counties, which reaches 80,000 listeners in Surrey, North East Hampshire and Brighton, presenter Neil Pringle had nothing but warm words for the book.

First, he told listeners about the great box which houses Postcards, then he went on to say how brilliantly it was produced and worth the price. He called Postcards 'amazing with comments that reveal an awful lot about Ringo. Also die-hard fans will want to get hold of a copy. Genesis Publications don't have to apologise for the cost.'

Pringle added that despite the dozens of books about The Beatles, there was certainly 'room for one more on the shelf as Postcards is so unique and unusual.'

He also brought into the conversation from the BBC's Liverpool studio, the webmaster of the Liverpool Beatles Fan Club website, David Bradford who was also very enthusiastic about the book.

'It's absolutely fantastic .. the anecdotes are fantastic' he told listeners. 'It gives a fabulous insight into Ringo, who has always been reluctant to do a biography or autobiography - unlike the other Beatles.'

NEW LITERARY MAG HAILS KILLER QUEEN

AMERICA'S CUP LIMITED EDITION

Genesis Publications is teaming up with renowned artist Michael Frith for a book celebrating all the history, beauty and excitement of the America's Cup.

In 2001, the cup celebrated its Jubilee year with a massive gathering of historic America's Cup yachts at Cowes, where the first event took place in 1851. It was a true one off; an occasion the likes of which had never been seen before, and won't be seen again. LIVERPOOL PAPERS GREET POSTCARDS FROM THE BOYS

Liverpool's morning paper, the Daily Post, has just devoted almost its whole Page 3 to Ringo and Postcards From the Boys.

The article, stated: 'Postcards offers a fascinating and intimate glimpse into the private world of the most famous band in the world, both before and after their acrimonious break-up in 1970.

'Postcards ... reveals a very different side to the group than the one shown in other publications about the Beatles.'

Similarly, Liverpool's evening paper, The Liverpool Echo, ran a story, entitled 'Ringo's Stamps of Approval', with a picture of him holding the book.

WORLD-WIDE INTEREST IN POSTCARDS

Press around the world have been calling to cover Postcards From the Boys and we have signed deals with Stern in Germany, la Nacion in Argentina, The Weekend Australian in Australia and la Semanal in Spain.

Numerous media organisations in the States have also wanted to feature the book and interview Ringo, including a radio station for 12 year-olds in Washington State, and a specialist postcard collectors magazine.

POSTCARDS 'WILL DELIGHT FAB FOUR CONNOISSEURS' SAYS SUNDAY TIMES

Postcards From The Boys was the Sunday Times Magazine's cover story yesterday. The four double-page-spread article included many images of the postcards in the book with captions detailing the significance in The Beatles' history of each missive to Ringo from George, John and Paul.

Writer Tony Barrell noted, 'Cynics will say that shelves all over the world are already collapsing with the weight of Beatles books.... But Postcards from the Boys will delight Fab Four connoisseurs and send writers scurrying to revise their biographies.'

The piece referred to 'the gems', 'enchanting postcards' and 'the words of wisdom which fell through his letterbox' and adds that 'the cards are ripe for DIY research'.
