The Making Of Exile On Main St.

Dominique Tarlé's extensive archive of Nellcôte photographs
Exile deluxe
Exile Deluxe edition

Exile attracted more worldwide press than any other Genesis title, and continues to do so (see the reviews here). The Deluxe copies disappeared almost overnight. They were numbered from 1 to 260, bound in full brown leather and additionally autographed by Mick Taylor. A numbered print of Keith Richards signed by Dominique Tarlé was also included.

The Foreword is by Keith Richards, the central character in the book.

After photographing the Stones in the South of France, Dominique Tarlé lost touch with them for almost 30 years. Then, after publication of Exile he was invited to join them on several occasions when they were recording in Paris and has been able to renew old friendships. Everyone loves Exile it seems, and the story of the making of this book really has had a happy ending.

Keith Richards
'My time spent with Keith and Anita and the rest of The Stones at the Villa Nellcôte was a high point in my life. I should like to express my thanks to the seventeen contributors whose texts form an intriguing narrative to this fine edition of my Exile archive.'
Dominique Tarlé

'It was unique - a whole bunch of us in France with a mobile studio, living, working. We lived Exile on Main St. Dominique became one of those people that could get in and was documenting it. We liked people like that who basically remained invisible.'
Marshall Chess

'Exile provides an unparalleled behind-the-scenes insight into a historic recording. It is quite simply superb.'
Gered Mankowitz
