The Monograph Booklet
'Inside Out represents ten years on and off (mainly off) of dredging back
through my memories and those of friends, colleagues, the band's ex-wives
(quite a substantial collection there), press cuttings, boxes of T-shirts,
and fan websites (invaluable), before attempting to construct a fair
recollection of events.'
Nick Mason, from his monograph
In his 3,500 word monograph (exclusive to this boxed set), Nick describes with
considerable wit his new experiences as a successful author. He writes about
the rest of the band's reaction to the book but the real humour comes from
his recollections of his book-promotional activities in various countries.
'One of the attractions was an interactive
exhibit offering the chance to experience playing onstage as a band number.
Visiting incognito - and hopefully unlikely to be spotted as a rock star - I
queued up with my publishers' press officer for the briefing, then it was
our turn. I took the stage and the drum stool to play along to a Beatles
number. Lights beamed down and from a dark screen in front, audience noises
and vague head shapes emerged. It seemed vaguely reminiscent of a gig, only
without the fee. As we left, the guy at the door told me, 'Hey, buddy, now you actually know what it's really like.' I didn't have the heart
to tell him that the quotient could be improved immeasurably by coming off
the stage into a seedy band room full of unsuitable people and argumentative
guitar players...'

The monograph is printed in Milan on acid-free heavy cartridge stock and
thread sewn.
