The Design
The box, the leather binding for the book and the components of the box of
delights have been designed by Storm Thorgerson, the genius behind the
creation of most of Pink Floyd's album covers. Storm founded the design
house Hipgnosis with Po (Aubrey Powell) in 1968. He has been a huge
influence on 20th and 21st Century record cover design.
In order to create a new image for the front cover of the leather bound
limited edition version of Inside Out, Storm directed a photographic shoot
at Syon House in London on 19th April 2005.
'Storm also suggested a certain amount of weird stuff. 'There are nine
letters,' he intoned, 'in Nick Mason, nine letters in Pink Floyd and nine
letters in Inside Out.' There was something deeply significant here, yet to
date the significance has clearly eluded me.'
