An acclaimed photo-journalist, Michael Ward took his photographs of The Beatles as a commission for the Sixties magazine, Honey. Aside from one or two frames, the photography lay unseen for four decades, such was the frantic pace of his career.
Michael Ward: ‘When you go on a shoot as a press photographer you do a group of pictures, choose the ones that you think are worth printing and forget the rest and that’s what happened here.'
He would go on to enjoy a colourful 30-year career with the Sunday Times, creating photo stories in the world of business, as a war correspondent, behind-the-scenes in theatre, and in fashion.
