Happy Birthday Bowie
Today, Sunday 8th January, the legendary David Bowie turns 65. This year also marks 40 years since Bowie unleashed iconic alter ego Ziggy Stardust and the influential album of the same name. Later that year Bowie performed 'Starman' on Top of the Pops, launching The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars to the top of the charts where he would return many times throughout his career.
'I've got to think of myself as the luckiest guy. Robert Johnson only had one album's worth of work as his legacy. That's all that life allowed him.' - David Bowie
BBC Radio 6 will mark Bowie's birthday by playing his
records, concerts and radio sessions throughout the day. Bowie's
decade-spanning career, from Ziggy to the modern man is also celebrated in his
new collaboration with Sukita, SPEED OF LIFE, as well as previous Genesis
limited editions FROM STATION TO STATION and MOONAGE DAYDREAM.
