Jackie Stewart on the grid at the Nurburgring, August 4th 1968

On August 4th, 1968, Jackie Stewart produced perhaps his greatest drive at the Nurburgring. In soaking conditions he totally outclassed everyone else to finish first - a remarkable four minutes ahead of his nearest competitor, Graham Hill, in second place.

In his his new limited edition, COLLAGE, Jackie recalls:

'There was torrential rain and thick fog. You just couldn't see anything. There was a lot of aquaplaning and teetering on the edge. At times I could have gone off, and I was close to it on several occasions, but, for whatever reason, I managed to keep it together.

'I took the chequered flag and went into the pits. Incredibly, I was able to get out of the car and get the brace off my broken Scaphoid before the next car even arrived [Note: Jackie was driving with a broken wrist]. It was amazing really.'
