Moonage Raises £750 For Sudan

Last week, one of the final unsold copies of MOONAGE DAYDREAM raised £750 to ease the suffering in crisis-hit Sudan. The book, signed by Mick Rock and David Bowie and donated by Genesis Publications, was sold at a charity auction held at Bar Revolution in Bath, UK, on November 18.

The auction, titled We'd Rather Go Naked... Than See People Suffer was organised by Rachel Al-Habib and Sarah Lynott - daughter of Thin Lizzy singer Phil - and offered a unique take on the charity auction. Scantily clad waiters and waitresses sold raffle tickets and dished out drinks and nibbles, while all the fashion items donated were sold right off the models' backs as they stood on the auction room floor. It made for some interesting photographs, but for the sake of decency, we're only showing MOONAGE DAYDREAM as it went under the hammer. Among those who donated clothes to the event was Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson. A total of $15,000 was raised on the night, all of which goes to Medicins Sans Frontieres.
