Liverpool Community College Award

David Fairclough, the former soccer star at Liverpool FC, launched the Genesis Publications/Liverpool Community College Sports Photographic Award yesterday (Wednesday September 17th) in Liverpool. 40 students from the age of 16 upwards attended and Fairclough spoke about the qualities he seeks in a great action picture - including, he stressed, emotion. One of the world's leading sports journalist photographers, Steve Hale, who did the much-acclaimed This Is Anfield book for Genesis last year, also spoke about the art. He will be giving a master class and judging the photos with Fairclough, the College and Genesis. Winners to be announced at the end of November for an exhibition at Borders Bookshop, Liverpool, in December. There will also be cash prizes worth £1000 and the chance to work with Steve.
