Concert For George Comes To London
The UK premiere of the tribute concert for the late George Harrison took place in Leicester Square, London last night (October 8th). As with the world premiere in LA last month, a host of stars attended. As well as those who had performed in the concert last November at the Royal Albert Hall (including Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Joe Brown, Jools Holland), film stars Rowan Atkinson, Alan Rickman and Robbie Coltrane; Bill Wyman and former World Champion F1 driver Damon Hill were also in the audience. Olivia Harrison made a moving introduction before the screening saying she hoped George would have approved.So far the film has received rave reviews and the word 'Oscar' has even been whispered. As well as the concert, the film includes interviews with Eric Clapton, Dhani and Olivia Harrison, Ringo Starr, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, Tom Hanks and Tom Petty and footage from the rehearsals showing the performers learning George's songs.
