Graceland remembers Elvis
This weekend thousands of fans braved extreme heat to take part in a vigil to mark the 33rd anniversary of Elvis Presley's passing at the age of 42.
They lit candles and filed past his grave in the meditation garden of the Presley family home, Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee.
The nighttime procession was the highlight of a weeklong series of fan-club meetings, film showings and Elvis tribute artist contests. Elvis purchased the 13-acre Graceland property in 1957 for a song — just a bit more than $100,000.
